JOIN BSA WITH STRAAT AT MOG! Brooklyn, Amsterdam and Miami! Graffiti and Street Art! Artists and Museum Directors! Hosted by the Museum of Graffiti within their latest must-see exhibition, Defying Authority, this event offers a unique opportunity to meet the artists, enjoy the discussion, ask questions, and pick up a copy of the catalog—available for purchase and signing! About the book: In a former shipyard of 8,000 square meters at the ultra-hip NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam, you will find Europe's largest street art museum: STRAAT. Yearly an impressive 200,000 visitors admire their collection of over 180 works by around 170 artists, many of which were specially created for this location. As STRAAT's collection is constantly refreshed and expanded, this second catalog features new works by about 80 artists. Divided into chapters by genre-muralism, art and activism, native/nature, abstract graffiti, and installations, the collection is guided and expanded with essays by experts like Steven P. Harrington, Carlo McCormick, Charlotte Pyatt, and Christian Omodeo. Released in December 2024, this book is an anthology of the key figures in the contemporary street art scene. Panel ParticipantsNina Valkhoff is a multidisciplinary artist from Rotterdam whose large-scale murals are celebrated for their rich detail and socially conscious themes. Known for her commitment to environmentalism and animal rights, Nina uses her art as a powerful form of activism, inspiring dialogue and raising awareness about urgent issues. Her striking works often combine botanical and natural imagery with bold color palettes, creating pieces that are not only visually stunning but also deeply meaningful. As a leading voice in street art, Nina continues to challenge conventions, explore new techniques, and advocate for a more compassionate world through her art. HOXXOH is an artist whose roots in Miami graffiti continue to inform his street art murals in cities worldwide. HOXXOH has built on his early foundations to create work that explores time, movement, and the cyclical nature of life. Intricate layers and hypnotic patterns characterize his massive pieces and push the boundaries of traditional graffiti, blending it with abstract and experimental techniques. As both an innovator and a bridge to graffiti's raw beginnings, he brings an important and unique perspective to street art and urban contemporary art. David Roos is the Head Curator at STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam, one of the world’s foremost institutions dedicated to street art and graffiti. Though relatively new to the street art scene, David has quickly established himself as a key figure in bringing this evolving series of art practices into the institutional spotlight. He has participated in events like the HKWalls festival in Hong Kong, was co-curator of the thought-provoking exhibition Not So Black & White at the Scope Fair here in Miami last year, and this October, in partnership with the vast NaLata festival in São Paulo, David curated a huge exhibition of Dutch and Brazilian street artists and graffiti artists in a show seen by tens of thousands. Alan Ket’s journey in graffiti began in the streets of New York during his teenage years, where he honed his skills as a writer and immersed himself in the wild, rebellious culture of the city’s graffiti scene. This firsthand experience shaped his deep connection to the art form and fueled his lifelong dedication to its preservation and elevation. As co-founder of the Museum of Graffiti in Miami—the first museum exclusively dedicated to graffiti—Ket has been instrumental in bridging the gap between graffiti’s underground roots and its acceptance in institutional spaces. Beyond his work with the museum, he is a prolific author, documenting the evolution of graffiti and street art through books like The Wide World of Graffiti, Urban Art Legends, Street Art: The Best Urban Art from Around the World, and Planet Banksy. The new edition features artworks from the following artists: : AIKO, Alex Face, Bier en Brood, Bisco Smith, Bounce, Bruno Smoky, Buff Monster, Caratoes, Carl KENZ, Carlos Ramirez, Chris Dyer, Clandestinos Art, Collin van der Sluijs, Cornbread, Czee13, Danielle SeeWalker, DavidL, Dilk, DOES, Dulk, Dvate, Ekundayo, ELLE, Erwtje, ESPO, FAKE, Farid Rueda, Galo, Gary Stranger, Guido de Boer, Guitar y Banjo, Hera, Hoxxoh, Hugo Kaagman, Hush, Insane51, Jad El Khoury, Joram Roukes, Joren Joshua, Judith de Leeuw, Kaplan Bunce, Kayla Mahaffey, Luca Ledda, Mark Gmehling, Michelle Hoogveld, Mick La Rock, Millo, Milu Correch, Nasca Uno, Nase Pop, Nespoon, Nils Westergard, Nina Valkhoff, Ottograph, Ox Alien, Pref, Remi Rough, Roids, Said Dokins, Said Kinos, Shepard Fairey, Shoe, Sipros, Snik, Sobekcis, Sr. Papá Chango, Studio Giftig, Super A, Taquen, Tellas, The London Police, The Lost Object, Treze, Tymon de Laat, Wasted Rita, WERC, Wild Drawing (WD), YorkOne, Young Jarus and Zurik. |
